Frequently Asked Questions
-
Because every cake is custom-designed and crafted, I recommend booking 4 to 6 weeks in advance to secure your date. My diary fills up quickly during peak seasons, so earlier is always better. If you have a last-minute request, please reach out via the order form—if I have a rare free slot, I will always try to accommodate you!

I pride myself on making as much of your design edible as physically possible! I use clever techniques like dried spaghetti strands instead of cocktail sticks to hold fondant models together, and I strictly never use wire inside my cake decorations to ensure maximum safety.
However, some designs do require structural support:
Internal Supports: Tall designs require hidden wooden or plastic dowels inside the sponge to keep the cake from collapsing under its own weight.
External Accents: Elements like personalized cardstock toppers or specific floral choices (such as silk flowers instead of edible ones, as agreed during your booking) are non-edible.
Every non-edible element used will be clearly listed on the safety label on your cake box at collection. Please ensure these are removed before cutting and serving your cake.
-
Absolutely! I love seeing your inspiration photos, colour palettes, and themes. You can upload these directly through my Custom Order Form to give me a great feel for the vibe you want to achieve.
-
I don't create exact replicas of other cake artists' work, and the same goes for AI-generated images (which frequently ignore the laws of physics, gravity, and real food!). Instead, we will use your inspiration photos or AI concepts as a loose guide. I will take the elements, colours, or themes you love and translate them into a beautiful, structurally sound, completely real design tailored specifically to your celebration.

While I can bake recipes without specific allergens (like nuts or gluten) upon request, all my treats are prepared in a kitchen that handles celery, cereals containing gluten, crustaceans, eggs, fish, lupin, milk, molluscs, mustard, peanuts, sesame, soybeans, sulphur dioxide and sulphites, and tree nuts. Because of this, I cannot guarantee a 100% allergen-free environment and may not be suitable for those with severe allergies.
-
Yes! I completely understand that overly sugary bakes can be off-putting. I intentionally balance my recipes and make my buttercream with a reduced-sugar profile, ensuring the focus is on rich, delicious flavor rather than intense sweetness.
-
Collection is from my home baking studio in Wetherby. Once your booking is confirmed and the balance is paid, we will agree on a specific collection time slot.
-
If you need to adjust your time slot, please let me know at least 48 hours in advance. Because I run my studio around a tight baking, decorating, and personal schedule, I set aside specific slots for collections and cannot guarantee I will be available if you show up outside of your agreed time.
-
Please send me a quick text message if you are running late! Because I work from a home studio, collections are by appointment only. If you miss your slot without notifying me, you may need to wait until the next available collection window or the following day.

Cakes are structurally delicate and need to travel safely!
Keep it flat: The safest place for your cake box is on a flat surface, such as the passenger footwell of your car or a flat, empty boot. Never transport a cake on a car seat or someone's lap, as the tilt can cause the structure to shift.
Stay cool: Travel with your air conditioning on, especially in warmer weather, and avoid leaving the cake in a parked car while you run other errands.
-
Collections are standard for single-tier celebration cakes. Delivery is only available for large multi-tier cakes or complex setups, subject to availability and a delivery fee based on distance.
-
I specialize in single-tier and smaller multi-tier celebration cakes (such as 2-tier designs). I don't currently offer large, traditional 3+ tier wedding cakes, but I am always happy to see if a smaller multi-tier design or a combination of a cake and matching treat boxes fits your vision!
-
I have a curated list of signature sponge flavors and fillings that I know taste incredible and hold up beautifully structurally. However, if you have a specific flavor combination in mind, feel free to ask on your order form! If it's something I can confidently execute to my standards, I’m happy to discuss it.
-
Unless it is an exceptionally warm day, your cake is best kept in its box in a cool, dry room away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Please avoid putting the cake in a domestic fridge, as the moisture can cause fondant details and cardstock toppers to soften or wilt.
-
Your cake is baked fresh for your event and is at its absolute best within 3 to 4 days of collection. Once cut, wrap any leftover cake edges tightly in clingfilm or store them in an airtight container to keep the sponge from drying out.
-
Once we have finalized your design and quote, a non-refundable deposit is required to secure your date in my diary. The remaining balance is then due prior to your collection date. Please note that dates cannot be held without a deposit.
-
Because every cake is a bespoke project, I don't have a flat rate. Final pricing is based on the size of the cake plus the time and materials required for your specific design. Elements like detailed hand-modeled figures, intricate themes, or complex custom cardstock toppers will increase the final quote beyond the base starting price.
-
Small changes to colors or theme details can usually be accommodated up to 2 weeks before your collection date. However, changes to the cake size, major design overhauls, or flavor changes may not be possible once ingredients and specific structural materials (like custom topper cardstock) have been ordered.
-
If you need to cancel your order, please let me know as soon as possible. The deposit paid at booking is strictly non-refundable, as it covers the loss of turning down other clients for that date, as well as any admin or early design prep already undertaken. If a cancellation happens within 7 days of the collection date, the full balance remains payable.
